Betting on the wrong horse

It is understandable that ALL in the watch industry copy each other (except for only a few). The truth is that since Luis Abraham Breguet's developments (over 200 years ago) and the designs of the first half of the 1900's the watch world has been pleasantly rolling along. Believe it or not, but 90% (... I might be exaggerating here...) of all that is manufactured, conceived and sold today is or can be traced back to those origins in one way or another.

Lately competition has become more an more fierce and some manufacturers just can't keep their eyes off the competition. Here is an example; Hublot with the Big Bang did not only grossly copy AP's Montoya and the idea behind the OffShore but now this...

At least AP had the decency to pick a wining team like the "Alinghi", but the Swiss soccer team? Hate to burst their bubble but if they make first round... now that would be nothing short of a miracle!

UPDATE: Switzerland made it to the next round...

    Now come on Daz, tut tut. You can't go making comments like "Big Bang looks like Royal Oak." It's a clear evolution of the Hublot shape doncha know. Like a Panda's thumb not being like ours at all at all. Oh, quick ice cream man outside. gotta go.

    I stand corrected. I was trying to "excuse" Hublot's blatant copy (which I find is pathetic). I don't buy their story about how it evolved (into a copy of the RO & ROO....how do they explain that?).

    Nice blog BTW, hope you can keep updating KronosClub as well, seems a bit quiet lately.
